Big Sur linocut print
The Lone Bison
This piece is a hand printed fine art linocut print.
I am inspired by the majesty of our National Parks, on 2016 I embarked on a journey to visit and illustrate all of them, after spending over 3 years on the road camping , hiking and photographing them all. All the imagery captured during this quest is the one I use to craft these prints.
This detailed relief print comes from and original hand drawing which is transferred to a linoleum block ready to be carefully carved, then the block is inked and laid on a press, paper is placed top and after applying pressure the print gets made.
Carved from a love of wild horizons, this hand-pulled lino print captures the epic sweep of the Big Sur coast, where the road traces the edge of land and sea. Every stage of the process—drawing, carving, and printing—is done entirely by hand, leaving behind the marks of time, intention, and touch. The finished piece invites a sense of movement and wonder, celebrating the freedom of the open coast and the journey it inspires.
